The equation for the alternating voltage is V = V0 sin ωt = V0 sin 2p f t. Where V is instantaneous voltage and V0 the peak value of the voltage. Here rms (virtual) voltage is Vrms = 220 V. Also f = 50 Hz. Substiuting values of V0 and f in eq.(i), we get V = 311 sin 100pt.
