You already named it.
The electrical circuit used to get smooth dc output from a rectifier circuit is known as a RECTIFIER CIRCUIT.
In a rectifier, a DIODE is used to get a dc current output. Such type of rectifiers are known as HALF WAVE RECTIFIERS.
To make a full wave rectifier, we use two diodes instead of one.
To get the smooth dc output, we use filter circuits. In these, I know two types which we can use.
1. Series Inductor filter circuit -
Inductor is used.
2. Capacitor filter circuit - by using capacitor.

Filter is the ‘electrical circuit’ used to get smooth DC output from a rectifier circuit.
Explanation:
- The major purpose of the power supply filter is to smooth the ripple presented in the DC pulses that are obtained from the rectifier circuit, while the average output or current voltage has been increasing.
- These filter circuits are majorly used in all types of power supplies. There are two types of power supplies namely choke input and capacitor input.
- The element closest to the rectifier determines the type of filter to be used.
