Answer ⇒ The electron affinity of the element A is 194.33 kJ/moleK.

Explanation ⇒ Using the formula,

    Electron gain enthalpy = electron affinity – 2.5 RT

Now, Electron gain enthalpy = 200 kJ/mole. = 200 × 10³ J/mole.

R = Universal gas constant = 8.31 J/moleK.

T = absolute temperature = 273 K.

∴ electron affinity = 200 × 10³ - 2.5 × 8.31 × 273

∴ electron affinity = 200000 - 5671.575

∴ electron affinity = 194328.425 J/moleK.

∴ electron affinity = 194.33 kJ/moleK.

Hence, the electron affinity of the element A is 194.33 kJ/moleK.

Hope it helps.
