the element x is sulphur because

its electronic configuration is 2,8,6 and thus atomic number = 2+8+6=16

sulphur is the element of atomic number 16

since it has three shells 2,8,6 it belongs to the THIRD PERIOD of the modern periodic table

it requires 2 more electrons to satisfy the octet rule and attain noble gas configuration.  therefore its valency is 2

VALENCY IS 2

arunsivaprasath: sorry group is 16 as it has 6 valence electrons forgot to mention it. please dont mind. mark brainliest
