The atom is most probably lithium (Li).

  • According to the question, the electronic configuration of the given atom is 2,8,1.
  • Now, total number of electrons in the given atom will be 11 and the protons number will be also 11.
  • So,the given atom has an atomic number of 11.
  • And, according to the periodic table, the sodium also has the atomic number of 11.
  • Now,the lithium is chemically most similar to the to the sodium, because both sodium and lithium belongs to the same group of the periodic table, and they are situated in vertically consecutive places.
