The Magnetic moment of  [NiCl4]^{2-} is 2.82BM

Given:

The electronic Configuration of a element is Ar [3d^{8}4s^{2}]

To Find :

The Magnetic moment of the element which has an electronic configuration.

Solution:

Oxidation state of Ni = +2

Ni(28) = Ar [3d^{8}4s^{2}]

Magnetic Moment Ч = \sqrt{n(n+2)}

n is the No. of unpaired electrons

n = 2

Therefore,

Ч = \sqrt{2(2+2)}\\

    =  2.82BM

The Magnetic moment of the element is 2.82BM
