. The electronic configuration of an element ‘X’ is 2,8,6. To which group and period of the modern periodic table does ‘X’ belong. State it valency and justify your answer in each case.

sagar10031: period = 3
sagar10031: group = 16

Since it has 6 valence electrons. So, it will belong to group 6.

The valency of element E is 2 because it requires 2 more electrons to complete its stable gas configuration.

hope it is useful to u..!

The element X belongs to the 16th group and 3rd period of the modern periodic table. The no. of electrons in the valence shell + 10 indicates the group and the no. of shells indicate the period.

The valency is 2 since it needs 2 more electrons to attain noble gas configuration.

Hope it helps you.

If it did mark it as the brainiest;-)
