The electronic configuration of elements X and Y are:
X= 2,8,8,2
Y=2,6
Explain the type of bonding seen when X and Y combine. Show through electron dot structures.​

Answer:

So as calcium and oxygen bond together,it is known as ionic bonding as oxygen is a non metal and calcium is a metal. Oxygen has 6 outer shell electrons and calcium only has two. So during the ionic bonding, oxygen shares it's all 6 outer electrons with Calcium so that both of them become stable.
