Electronic configuration of,
- X = 2, 4
∴ Valency = 4 + (can lose 4 e- to become stable.)
- Y = 2, 8, 1
∴ Valency = 1 +
- Z = 2, 8, 7
∴ Valency = 1 - (can gain 1 e- to become stable).
So, compound formed by X & Y = not possible
[Compounds only form by reaction of anions and cations.]
By X & Z = X4+ x Z- = XZ4 (not given in options)
By Y & Z = Y+ x Z- = YZ (b).
Therefore, the correct option is B.
