The electrons in the beam of television tube have an energy of 12keV (1eV = 1.6 x 10-19 J). The tube is oriented so that electrons move horizontally from south to north. At the current location, the Earth’s magnetic field points roughly vertically down and has magnitude B= 6 x 10-5 T. i. In what direction will the beam deflect? ii. What is the acceleration of a given electron associated with this deflection?
