(a) predict the sign and charge on ion of X
(b) write if X will be an oxidising agent or reducing agent and why

(a) since element X has one electron in its valence shell it will lose it one electron to get stable therefore the charge on X is 1 with sign as positive

That's is

 {x }^{ + 1}

(b) it will gain one electron as it will be cation, So it will be reduced or will show reduction

thus it will be called Oxidising agent
