The elements Be, Mg and Ca each having two electrons in their outermost shells are in periods 2, 3, and 4 respectively of the modern periodic table. Answer the following questions, giving justification in each
case :
(i) Write the group to which these elements belong.
(ii) Name the least reactive element.
(iii) Name the element having largest atomic radius.

Hi ,
here is your answer !!!
they are alkali. metals .
They exist. 2 nd group and 2 nd preiod of preidoic table
here is your answer !!!
1) these elements belongs to second group (2nd group ) .
as they also belongs to second period .
2) as we move. upper to bottom reactivity increase !!
hence , there is series of :-
Be
Mg
Ca
hence , moving down reactivity increase .
so less REACTIVE metal will be " Be " or berilliym
≈≈≈≈≈≈≈===========================
3) As we know that on moving downward number of electons are going to add .
but valency doesn't chance !!!
hence , moving downward there is increases in atomic radius .
hence ,. calcium. or " Ca" have largest atomic radius !!
hope it helps you dear. !!!
thanks !!!
have a nice day !!
