Acetylene reacts with Cold KMnO4 to form formic acid and on reaction with hot KMnO4 it forms Oxalic acid. Hello, the product formed would be oxalic acid. The triple bond present in ethyne is oxidised byKMnO4, adding two groups of -OH on each carbon.
