the energy released in fusion reaction of light nuclei is much less than the energy released in the fission reaction of a heavy nucleus. why is then a hydrogen bomb (based on nuclear fission) or more powerful than an atomic bomb (based on nuclear fission)?

Hydrogen bomb( based on nuclear fission) is more powerful than atom bomb (based on nuclear fission) because in case of fusion, the energy released per unit mass of the fuel is much larger than that in fission .
