\sqrt{\frac{u^{2} + v^{2}  }{2} }

Explanation:

Let the train's length = l

According to the motion's third equation,

v^{2} - u^{2} = 2as

Since, s = l

v^{2} - u^{2} = 2al

a = v^{2} - u^{2} /2l

At Mid-point, l = l/2

v^{2} = u^{2} + 2a\frac{l}{2}

= \frac{2u^{2} + v^{2} - u^{2}  }{2}

= \sqrt{\frac{u^{2} + v^{2}  }{2} }
