Answer:

When Tricki's condition worsened and Mrs Pumphrey called for the veterinarian Mr Herriot, Mr Herriot told her that the only solution was for him to keep Tricki at the surgery for a fortnight to monitor him and his diet properly. Mrs Pumphrey was hesitant but Mr Herriot carried the little dog in a blanket up to his car. The entire staff was then roused to bring Tricki's day bed, his night bed, his favourite cushions, toys and rubber rings, breakfast bowl, lunch bowl and dinner bowl. Mrs Pumphrey was a rich lady and had lavish things for her dog and felt that Tricki must have them at all times.
