The entrance of a tunnel can be measured by y = 11/50 (x-4) (x-24), where the x and y are measured in feet. The x axis represents the ground. Find the width of the tunnel at ground level.

ps. Please Explain how you solved it.

Width of Tunnel at Ground level,,,

If we are ground level then we are on X- Axis,,and y coordinate will be 0.

Putting y=0 in equation ,,we get

11/50(X-4)(X-24)=0
,which gives two values x=4 &x=24 ,

These are two Points where tunnel intersect the X axis ,and width will be given by :

W = 24-4=20
