the entravagant spending of the royal family is often advanced as a major cause of the french revilution. to what extent was this true?

It is true, as king Louis XV and queen Marie Antoinette led a luxurious life. They spent all the royal treasury on their comforts instead of using it for the development of their kingdom.  The people were furious, they thought that they are the once leading a poor and hard life but still all the mone was being spent on increasing the comforts of the rich. Eventually, this thought and cuz of a lot of other reasons, the revolt began.
