The social mores the author seems to ridicule the false pride of the people.

The pride of ownership in some class of society has blinded them fully and makes them insensible.

In this story, one such example is Azam Khan who is ready to give all his property for the sake of his pride and his past fame.

Another example is of Ramanand, he is more mature and sensible and he rises above the society’s contract to put his business profits above his pride.
