Given info : Two equal charges are separated by a distance x.

To find : the electric field intensity between the charge at distance x/4 from first charge is...

solution : let magnitude of each charge is q

q ----(x/4)------(O)•-----------(x - x/4)-------------q

we have to find the electric field intensity at distance x/4 from first charge.

so, electric field at O = electric field due to 1st charge + electric field due to 2nd charge

= kq/(x/4)² (→) + kq/(3x/4)² (←)

= 16kq/x² (→) + 16kq/9x² (→)

= 16kq/x² [1 - 1/9] (→)

= 128kq/9x² (→)

Therefore the electric field intensity at O is 128kq/x² (left to right direction)
