Given : The equation: 3a² - 14ab + 15b² = 0,  hold good

To Find :  Ratio of  the values of a and b

(5:3) or (3:1)

(3:5) or (1:3)

(1:5) or (1:3)

(7:3) or (3:1)

Solution:

3a² - 14ab + 15b² = 0

Using middle term split

=> 3a² - 9ab - 5ab + 15b² = 0

=> 3a(a - 3b) - 5b(a - 3b) = 0

=> (a - 3b)(3a - 5b) = 0

a - 3b = 0

=> a = 3b

=> a /b = 3

=> a : b = 3 : 1

or

3a - 5b = 0

=> 3a = 5b

=> a/b = 5/3

=> a : b = 5 : 3

Hence  (5:3) or (3:1)    is the correct answer
