The equation is   Cu+ xHNO₃⇒ Cu(NO₃)₂+ yNO₂+2H₂O

To find :

The values of x and y

Solution :

  • This equation can be solved by balancing the number of elements present in the either side of the equation
  • Number of H on th products side is 4 which should be equal to the number of H on the reactants side

        The value of x = 4

  • As the value of x is 2 the number on N on the reactants side is 2 which should be equal to the number of nitrogen atoms on product side

       The value of y = 2

The equation is Cu+ 4HNO₃⇒ Cu(NO₃)₂+ 2NO₂+2H₂O
