Given :- The equation for the following statement is: Twice a number subtracted from 8 gives 13 .

Options are :-

(a) 8 – 2x = 13

(b) 2x – 8 = 13

(c) –2x – 8 = 13

(d) 2x – 13 = 8

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the number is x .

So,

→ Twice of the number is = 2 * x = 2x .

Now, given that,

→ Twice of x is subtracted from 8 and it gives = 13

→ 2x is subtracted from 8 and it gives = 13

→ 8 - 2x = 13 . (Option A) (Ans.)

also ,

→ 8 - 2x = 13

→ 8 - 13 = 2x

→ (-5) = 2x

→ x = (-2.5) .

(-2.5) is the given number whose twice when subtracted from 8, gives 13 .

Hence, Option (A) is correct answer .
