Solution :

Let say number = x

Twice a number = 2x

subtracted from 8  = 8 - 2x

gives 13  Hence  8 - 2x = 13

8 - 2x = 13  is the  equation for the Twice a number subtracted from 8 gives 13

8 - 2x = 13

=> - 2x = 5

=> x = -2.5

Number is - 2.5   or  - 5/2
