We have 2nd equation of motion as

s= ut + ½at² —(i)

Given equation —

s= 490t - 4.9t² —(ii)

Now comparing (i) and (ii) —

u= 490 m/s , g= -9.8m/s²

For maximum height, v= 0,so from 3rd equation of motion —

v² - u² = 2as

=> 0² - (490)²= 2*-9.8*s

=>-(490)²= -19.6s

=> s= (490)²/19.6= 12,250 m

Hence the maximum height is 12,250 m.
