SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The equation of parabola whose directrix is x + 3 = 0

EVALUATION

We know that the general equation of a parabola is

y² = 4ax

Where axis is positive x axis and equation of the directrix is x + a = 0

Here we have to find the equation of parabola whose directrix is x + 3 = 0

Comparing both we get

a = 3

Hence the required equation of the parabola is

 \sf{ {y}^{2} = 4.3.x }

 \sf{ \implies \:  {y}^{2} = 12x }
