Hii Mate !!

Here is your answer !!

Question : The equation x² - ( p + 4 )x + 2p + 5 = 0 ha equal root the value of p will be ?

Solution :

The given equation is : x² - ( p + 4 )x + 2p + 5.

Here ,

A = Coefficient of x² = 1

B = Coefficient of X = -p - 4.

And,

C = Constant term = 2p + 5.

Discriminant ( D ) = 0

b² - 4ac = 0

( -p - 4 )² - 4 * 1 * 2p + 5 = 0

(-p)² + 4² - 2*(-p)*4 - 8p - 20 = 0

p² + 16 + 8p - 8p - 20 = 0

p² - 4 = 0

p² = 4

p = √4

p = 2 or -2.

therefore the values of p is equal to 2 or -2.
