The equation y = 450x represents the number of miles airplane Z traveled, y, for a flight of x hours. The graph shows the number of miles airplane W traveled for a 5 - hour flight. How much faster does plane W travel than plane Z?

Solution :-

→ y = 450x

so, when x = 1,

→ y = 450 * 1 = 450 miles .

then,

→ Speed of plane Z = 450 miles/h .

now, from graph we can see that,

→ In first hour W travelled = 500 miles.

so,

→ Speed of plane W = 500 miles/h .

therefore,

→ Difference between speed of planes = 500 - 450 = 50 miles/h . (A) (Ans.)

Hence, Plane W travel 50 miles per hour faster than plane Z .
