Pressure at 50% dissociated = ?

Solution:

PCL_{5}  \rightleftharpoons  PCL_{3}+CL_{2}

Total number of moles at equilibrium will be:

= \frac{1}{2} +\frac{1}{2} +\frac{1}{2}

= \frac{1+1+1}{2}

= \frac{3}{2}

Now,

Equilibrium Constant,

⇒  Kp=\frac{\frac{1}{2}\times \frac{1}{2}}{\frac{1}{2}}\times \frac{P}{\frac{3}{2}}

⇒  1.6=\frac{1}{4} \times 2\times \frac{2P}{3}

⇒  1.6=\frac{4}{4}\times \frac{P}{3}

⇒  1.6=\frac{P}{3}

⇒  P=1.6\times 3

⇒  P=4.8 \ atm

So that the pressure will be "4.8 atm".
