1 ohm and 2 ohm resistances are in series in both the arms , so

R' = 1+2 = 3 ohm

The three resistances hence formed will be in parallel so ,

 \frac{1}{1}  =  \frac{1}{3}  +  \frac{1}{3}  +  \frac{1}{R}  \\  \\ 1 =  \frac{2}{3}  +  \frac{1}{R}  \\  \\ 1 -  \frac{2}{3}  =  \frac{1}{R}  \\  \\  \frac{1}{3}  =  \frac{1}{R}

R = 3 ohm

Thanks!
