Given ,

The two resistor of resistance 12 ohm and 24 ohm are connected in parrallel

We know that , the equivalent resistance in parrallel combination is given by

 \boxed{ \tt{ \frac{1}{R}  =  \frac{1}{ R_{1}}  + \frac{1}{ R_{2}}   + ... + \frac{1}{ R_{n}}  }}

Thus ,

1/R = 1/12 + 1/24

1/R = (2 + 1)/24

1/R = 3/24

R = 24/3

R = 8 ohm

Therefore , the equivalent resistance is 8 ohm
