Molecular mass = 2× vapour density
so...
molecular mass of it's chloride = 2× 59.25 =118.5g
Equivalent mass of it's chloride = equivalent mass of element + equivalent mass of chloride
equivalent mass of it's chloride= 4+35.5 =39.5
We also know that...
equivalent mass of it's chloride= molecular mass of it's chloride/ valency
=> 39.5=118.5/valency
=> valency=118.5/39.5=3
Hence, the valency of element = 3
hope it helps you....
