To find : Time taken by the monkey to lift the piano ?

Solution : A/C to given data;

  • Power of the motor, P = 1500 watt
  • Mass of the piano, m = 300 kg
  • Lifting height/displacement, s = 10 m

Now, firstly we have to find out, force acting on a piano,

➜ Force = mass * acceleration

where, acceleration is acceleration due to gravity {9.8 m/s²}

➜ Force = 300 * 9.8

➜ Force = 2940 N

Now, we have to find out, work done by a force acting on a piano,

➜ Work done (W)= Force * displacement

➜ Work done (W)= 2940 * 10

➜ Work done (W)= 29400 joule

Now, we use formula of power;

➜ Power (P) = rate of doing work

➜ Power (P) = work/time

➜ 1500 = 29400/time

➜ time = 29400/1500

➜ time = 294/15

➜ time= 98/5

➜ time = 19.6 sec

Answer : Hence, time taken by the monkey to lift the piano is 19.6 sec.
