Gold Sol is Colloidal Gold. Colloidal gold is a suspension (or colloid) of sub-micrometre-sized particles of gold in a fluid, usually water. Gold sol contains particles of various sizes having several atoms of gold. The liquid is usually either an intense red colour (for particles less than 100 nm), or blue/purple (for larger particles).

As large number of small particles of gold (dispersion phase) aggregate to form a large size molecule or particle having the size in the colloidal range, it is considered as Multimolecular colloid.

In Gold sol dispersed phase is solid and dispersion medium is liquid.
