Like there are gluons which are the exchange particles responsible for strong interaction , there is a small group of particles called intermediate vector bosons which is responsible for metering out the weak force which is stronger than gravity but is active in very small distances.

The exchange particles for weak interaction come under the category of bosons.

The particles responsible are called
W+, W-, and Z° (Z naught)

The plus, minus, and zero (and not degree) sign are written on the the superscript
