Going on Tour; My Experience

For me, a tour is a tour, whether it's a mini -couple week tour or a full year one, local or far away...

I remember at first all the hype of getting to say "I'm going on tour, "we are becoming a company," and "we are traveling and performing here and there!"

This past contract was my third year of traveling and spreading the Gospel through the art of dance. The first year I started at Creation, it was a wonderful little studio where you trained in a basement and had a recital in June at the end of the year. It was Gods perfect timing, I had just got off my cane and was starting to dance EnPointe.

During that year I was also given the opportunity to become a teacher, to train, and become part of Creation's staff. But, in June of 2015 is where us staff and adults were sat down and told that Creation studio was becoming a Crew, a little dance Company of Oswego NY. Our contract lasted for a year as each season was spilt into an average of five/six weeks. Where in that time, each of us Teachers would teach the adult company and younger crew a dance/theme and perform at the end of every sixth week. In between each interval we performed at nursing homes, various churches, farmers markets, and of course the main performance at the end of the year.

Here is the disclaimer, although the "going on tour" lifestyle looks all glamourous and devine; it comes down to the behind the scenes being the complete opposite! While we learn numerous amounts of variations throughout the year and perform, our spiritual health needs to be priority. This definitely became hectic when you are trying to fill your mind with steps, technique, teaching through the week, bible studies, and maintaining a peaceful, restful time with your Saviour!

I used to look at speakers, dancers, and musicians and think how they must treasure and relish in those moments on preparing to go on stage. But the truth of the matter is, the stage is only a few moments of blur compared to the strain and struggles of what came before. Seeing the support and encouragement from those who come and watch and have a yearn for something deeper changes the look of a hectic life into something meaningful!

Now in no way am I saying that this type of life is unhealthy, on the contrary, it is essential to do all you can to let them know we are Gods disciples, to show His strength , His tenacity, and His will.

I cannot be more grateful for the friends I've met and the love that has become apart of me and those I was prepared to bless, which in fact I was blessed in return. Not to mention the opportunities, Oh! The opportunities given when you feel like there is no purpose to your life and are doubting yourself... The Lord has strange and beautiful ways of working and He is there with You through the chaos. Therefore if I have to stretch anything tonight, I plead to slow down when you can, treasure those moments you have because God is molding you through the business, and as much as you can Be still. Then you will realize that He is definitely in fact God, who gets you through and is with you each day of your life!

No matter who you are, each day is a tour in itself, a tour the Lord brings you on where He will mold and bless you if only you persevere!
