Hence, F = M(v-u)/t ; where v is the final velocity, u is the intial velocity and t is the time taken for that change.

You could also write in this form:

 F =  \frac{Mv - Mu}{t} \\= \frac{p_{f}-p_{i} }{t}

Where p(f) is the final momentum and p(i) is the initial momentum.
