The extent to which Mass Media control What and How we think
Answers
Answer:
How does the media control our behaviour and how we think?
Our source of information is mostly media like press releases, spokesmen, television programmes, films, advertising, news articles, social media, and so on all influence what we see, what we hear, and how we are told we should interpret events. But is media trying to control us?
The media might not control us but can undoubtedly ‘influence us’. Media is so powerful that it is the fourth pillar of democracy and social media often comes across as a trendsetter. It is an important way of communicating with the masses. It could be anything from a ‘public service’ announcement giving us some kind of advice through to tell us how great a product is and we should go buy it.
A major use of media is government. Today’s media tends to either support the government or tends to be against the government for anything the government comes up with. The media is mostly biased. This can be done through overrating chaos which could provoke others to take part in it as unnecessary attention is being provided for a minor issue. Or a major issue being disregarded as it is too political which could harm the journalists.
Social media, a platform where individuals share their status, opinion, etc. When a well-known or followed individual expresses their opinion, (especially when it’s a blame game, chaotic or even a misunderstood concept) their followers tend to support and get misled. The opinion of the idol did influence his/her followers.
