The external dimensions of a closed wooden box are 27 cm, 19cm and 11 cm. If the thickness of the wood in the box is 1.5 cm find:

The internal dimensions are

27–2*1.5, 19–2*1.5 & 11–2*1.5

=24 by 16 by 8 cm

This will accommodate 48 four cm cubes.

24*16*8/4*4*4 = 24*2 = 48

or 2 layers of cubes 6 by 4

6*4*2 = 48
