Volume of iron used =Volume of outer iron box (V) - volume of inner iron box(v)

V=lxbxh=32x22x16=11,264cu.cm.

For inner iron box ,

l =32-1-1=30cm

,b=22-1-1=20cm,

h=16-1=15cm (since it is an open box only the thickness of base is to be subtracted)

v=30x20x15=9,000cu.cm

Volume of iron used =11,264-9,000=2,264cu.cm.
