QUESTION :-

➠ The external length, breadth and height of a closed rectangular wooden box are 20 cm, 12 cm and 6 cm respectively and thickness of wood is 0.5 cm. Find the volume of wood.

ANSWER :-

➠ Let

•external length of the closed box → L •external breadth of the closed box → B •external height of the closed box → H

so ,

  • L = 20 cm,
  • B = 12 cm,
  • H = 6 cm

➠ Let

•internal length of the closed box → l •internal breadth of the closed box → b •internal height of the closed box → h

so ,

  • l = [20 – (2 × 0.5)] cm 19 cm
  • b = [12 (2 × 0.5)] cm = 11 cm
  • h = [6 - (2 x 0.5)] cm = 5 cm

➠ External volume of the box

→ L × B x H

→ (20 × 12 × 6) cm³

→ 1440 cm³

➠ External volume of the box

→ l × b × h

→ (19 × 11 × 5) cm ³

→ 1045 ³

Volume of wood = External volume Internal volume

→ (1440 - 1045) cm ³

→ 395 cm³
