The Eyes have it is the story of a blind man who thought he was very clever to behave like a man with a vision. Once he was alone with a woman passenger The man (narrator) (started) talked to the girl, but he did not give away his blindness (known). Both of the two spoke of the beauty of the hillsides. The girl got down in Shahranpur after a couple of nice words and the man felt lonely. A male passenger arrived when the train was about to depart. The narrator learnt hat the girl was too blind but had not revealed that to him.
Explanation:
- The narrator was really bored as he was alone up to Rohana in the compartment. Therefore, he was very happy that somebody else was boarding his compartment. He was excited by the possibility of having a fellow passenger. That this newcomer was a girl made him happier still.
- The narrator and the girl were discussing the beauty of Mussoorie in October. The girl even managed to conceal her blindness by correctly answering the questions of the narrator. Unlike the end of the novel, the narrator or the reader had no reason to believe that the girl was incorrect.
- The narrator found the girl's company very exciting. Nevertheless, he only had a short time to enjoy her company. The train reached Saharanpur and the girl went off the Saharanpur train. After the girl got down another fellow passenger who boarded the compartment had mentioned to the narrator of being blind
- When the narrator came to know that the girl was blind he felthe made a mistake of asking the girl as what it was like outside (the scenery/view). The narrator and the girl were discussing the beauty of Mussoorie in October. However, the girl remained silence for a moment before answering the narrator
