We have,

Magnitude of force exerted by golf club = 4000 N

Impulse generated = 80 Ns

We know,

J = F∆t (in usual terms)

Let impulse = J

∴ J = F∆t

⇒ ∆t = J/F

⇒ ∆t = (80 Ns)/(4000 N) = 8/400 s

⇒ ∆t = 1/50 s = 0.02 s {answer}.

More:-

  • Relationship between KE and momentum:-

KE = p²/2m

  • Impulse is known as the “change in momentum”. But, the unit of impulse and momentum is not same. Impulse has a unit of "Ns" and momentum, "kg m/s".
  • Momentum was introduced by Sir Isaac Newton.

 \bold{Solution \;:-}

Impulse - It is a vector. It is the amount of change in the momentum of the objects.

• Force exerted by the golf club = 4000 N

• Impulse generated = 80 N-s

• Time of contact = ?

By using the formula, Impulse = Force*Time

80 = 4000*t

• t = 80/4000

t = 0.02 s

Hope it helps!
