In the above Question , we have to find the factors of the following polynomial , x² + 5x + 4.

Solution -

f ( x ) = x² + 5x + 4

=> f ( x ) = x²+ 4x + x + 4

=> f ( x ) = x ( x + 4 ) + 1 ( x + 4 )

=> f ( x ) = ( x + 1 )( x + 4 ) .

Hence , Option A is the correct answer .

Additional Information -

( a + b )² = a² + 2ab + b²

( a - b )² = a² - 2ab + b²

( a + b )( a - b ) = a² - b²

( a⁴ - b⁴ ) = ( a² + b² )( a + b )( a - b )

( a⁸ - b⁸ ) = ( a⁴ + b⁴ )( a² + b² )( a + b )( a - b )
