The world famous Kohinoor diamond was presented to Shah Jahan by his friend Mir Jumla.  Mir Jumla brought highly valuable and rare gifts for the Mughal Emperor during his visit to Agra.  He wanted Shah Jahan to wage a massive war against the kings of Golconda region.  Mir Jumla was at war with the Portugese which needed military assistance of the Mughals.
