Ramananda also referred as Swami Ramanand or  Saint Ramanand was born on 1400. He was a Vaishnava saint. He spent majority of his life in the city of Varanasi. He is believed to be the pioneer of the Bhakti movement.

His  had 12 disciples among which Kabir was the most famous one. His other disciples included Anantananda, Bhavananda, Bhagat Sain, Dhanna Bhagat, Nabha, Naraharyanda, Ranka, Pipa, Ravidas , Sukhanada, and Tulsidas (He was not the one who wrote Ramcharitmana).

Kabir lived between 1440-1510 CE and worked for the betterment of the society. He was a North Indian saint.  He believed in lived in equality in society.
