Thanks for asking the question!

ANSWER::

The fan shaped alluvial feature formed by a river in its lower course is called Delta.

Extra Information - Delta is formed from the the deposition of sediment as the river water leaves the starting from where the river has started and enters slower moving or still water. It forms where river , ocean , sea etc. is not able to transport away the supplied element . River delta is important for human civilization as it helps in agriculture and other things too .The size of delta basically depends upon the watershed processes that supply sediment and also the receiving basin which redistribute and transport the sediment . River deltas can provide coastline defense too but , can affect water supply too .

There are different types of deltas :-

1.Wave-dominated deltas
2.Gilbert deltas
3.Tidal freshwater delta
4.Inland delta
5.Mega deltas
