Archaeologists have discovered tools used by farmers. Ancient mortars and grinding tools were
found in the mountains of Iran. The agriculture took place at many places and spread throughout
the Fertile Crescent region. It reveals people were grinding wheat and barley. They found storage
utensils made of clay such as pots which may be used to store seeds and food. This led to growth of
population as hunter-gatherers began to settle down in one place.
