To Find : how many miles the lava moved after 5.5 hours.

how many hours will the nearest town be reached by lava flow when it is 10 miles away from the volcano​

Solution:

f(x) = 6x

x  = Time in hrs

f(x) = Distance in miles  lava moved in x hrs  

x = 5.5

=> f(5.5) = 6 (5.5)

=> f(5.5) = 33  miles

10 miles away from the volcano​

=> f(x) = 10

=> 10  = 6x

=> x = 10/6

=>  x = 5/3 hrs

=> x = 1 2/3 hrs

=> x = 1 hr 40  minutes
