The father is responsible ti determine the gender of the baby as the male Sperm has the XY chromosome. Ovum contains X chromosome but Sperm can carry either X or Y chromosome. When ovum gets fertilized, the gender of baby depends on the Sperm by which it is fertilized.
If chromosome are XX, it will be a girl.
If chromosomes are XY, it will be a boy.
